Spudman Triathlon

My sister Jenn convinced me to do the Spudman triathlon with her in 2003. I've been doing it ever since! This year was the 4th time Mark and I have driven up to Burley, Idaho together for the event, only this time we did it as a team with some of his family (Milt, Sandy, Anne, Steph).

~Team Thunder~

We've been training to do the swim portion of the race, it was nice to just focus on one event. We drove up Friday afternoon (after meeting with our new tenant in Ogden-yes!). Saturday morning the weather was perfect-nice and warm, the water (Snake River) was smooth and a great temperature (no wetsuit needed...I probably couldn't fit in one anyway).

Sandy getting ready to run

We were the last wave of swimmers to go. We were in the water with 30 seconds until start. After another minute they asked us to swim to the side and they'd have to re-start us. We found out it was because a swimmer from the previous wave never made it out of the water. They announced they had found the swimmer and would be canceling our wave for the swim portion. (he had drown, a really freak accident Here is the article).

The rest of Mark's family still got to do the bike and run, they were awesome!

Although we didn't get to compete in the swim, it was still a great trip. I am so impressed with the great shape Mark's parents are in! Having the goal to do the swim really motivated me to stay in shape so far this summer which I'm sure has been a huge reason I've felt so good.

It's time to do nothing

Doesn't being 7 months pregnant in July sound like so much fun? It really is (no, really)! I'm waiting for my energy levels to drop, but until then I'm going to as much as I can.

This past weekend was perfect. We took a trip to San Diego to....hang out, visit friends, do nothing, do something, take a nap. Aaron was nice enough to pick us up from the airport and drop us off at Sea World, neither Mark or I could remember it very well so it was a good refresher. Yes, overpriced, but definitely worth it since I hadn't been there since I was just little.

We spent most of our time just hanging out with Carole and Aaron, the best part of visiting La Jolla. We watched The Office, ate lots of yummy food (including homemade breakfast on Sunday morning), read our books, and took naps. The weather was so perfect- 75 and breezy.

Next stop? Burley, Idaho for the Spudman Triathlon!
(don't worry, I'm just doing the swimming part)

Trails and Italian Food

What a fun weekend! Friday night we had dinner with Em and Jess and just talked forever afterward. I love having friends that are family.
Saturday morning while Mark was skating and jamming out in the bug hut with Bade, I went for hike up the Quarry Trail. 3 of my 4 siblings were biking it so it was fun to see them along the way (we missed you Jenn!).

Mark and I drove up to Ogden to do some stuff at the townhome and then went to Carlucci's for lunch on the way back home. Their garlic & herb goat cheese sandwich is my favorite!!
I then went crib shopping with Sandy and found a perfect one to fit in the 2nd bedroom. I can't wait for it to come so we can set it up with the bedding...it will make it seem more real, like there should be a little person in it.
We went to dinner with Liz and Dan and topped off the night by getting gelato with some of Mark's family for Anne's birthday followed by a few mean games of Wii.

Independence Day

Happy 4th of July!!

What we have been up to lately...
I spent yesterday up in Boise checking out the Bodybuilding.com warehouse and call center with my boss and two other managers from Backcountry.com. It sounds like a very odd and uneventful thing to do, but it was really fun. It was cool to see another call center (they're also owned by Liberty Media) and although I would never buy their products, the people were cool.

We had time to spare after meeting with them so we went to see Get Smart. I have to say I was disappointed. Its Dollar Movie worthy, but I wouldn't pay full price to see it. I also learned that airports are so much more pleasant to be in when eating a Cinnabon and that vanilla Italian Soda with cream is delicious!

This evening Mark and I have been watching The Office, washing the car, and doing nothing (really, I fell asleep and woke up with drool on my arm)...its great to have a long weekend.

What else have Mark and I been doing recently?

Making way for this desk (once we set it up it was, uh, much bigger than it looked in the store). But, Mark does all of his photography work from home, so its nice to have the space. Now what we'll do when the baby comes and we can't interrupt her sleeping?...time to call Qwest and figure out wireless internet.

We went to my step mom's house, Swendy, and had dinner with her, my dad, Liz, and Dan. It was really good to see them and I had been super sick earlier that day and it felt good to get out of the house.

And a summer necessity: going to The Cabin!

the best smores ever: you first roast the mallows as usual. then, set up your complete smore (in this case toffee/chocolate covered peanuts were used), next wrap it in foil and place it in a warm spot on the fire. let it melt for just a few minutes. unwrap, and enjoy!

And of course, being pregnant. We went to the doctor last week and everything is looking good. I am SO thankful to have had such an easy pregnancy so far and to be so healthy.
I've recently won a bunch of clothes from my work(like the top I'm wearing in the pic) and its been awesome since I have so few clothes I can actually fit into.

Mark and I took dinner up Millcreek two weeks ago and had FHE. I also won the outfit in the pic above [Prana Luna Maternity top and pant]
