good cooker

Ruby told me thank you multiple times tonight for the food. She thinks I'm a 'good cooker' and Siri said I should have my own show. I told her I just want to watch the shows :)

I love when the regular life stuff is amplified.
Took the girls to the dentist today.  Siri has a cavity, maybe on the tooth that needs to be pulled. Jane is close to having a few. (Blah, made a few phone calls as I want to get an orthodontist opinion and don't want to pull any teeth yet with Siri). But their dentist asked about what we'd done this summer and the girls talked about Disney World. I mentioned Make a Wish and he immediately knew. They had done that same trip with his son who had cancer, and is healthy now.  His understanding and kindness got me all teary eyed.

I took the girls to the gym daycare while I worked out this evening. None of us really wanted to go. After an hour I went to get them...they were having so much fun. There were an usually small amount of kids there, and they were doing Olympic games themed stuff. They told me they didn't want to leave so I walked and stretched for another 20 minutes. We came home to Mark making dinner. He's getting good at being able to tell when I have zero plans for dinner :)  He grilled fresh halibut our dear neighbor and bishop just caught in Alaska, asparagus, and I made a salad.  He went to the church for young mens while I made a fruit crisp. The girls and I got started on a bike ride while it cooled. We picked strawberries and juicy apricots at the neighbors, then rode around the block and back home. On our bike ride Ruby stopped and said "I'm running out", she was tired. I always worry first that its because of her lungs. Then I turn to her age, the heat, the slight uphill.  Bracing myself for the results of her scan Friday.

We've been inside so much lately with the heat, and me just being prego tired, that we really haven't biked (or hiked or walked or anything active outside) as much as usual. We loved being out tonight, having the sun going down so it wasn't hot.  We got home and had our dessert in the back yard. Danced and played and I sat on the blanket loving it all until it got dark.

Last night I went to dinner with high school girl friends.  We go out once in a while, but last night was especially...fulfilling I guess I'd say. Crying from laughing so hard, really good food, and being around women I look up to and love.

Oh, and we're having a girl!  Hooray! Sorry if any of you are disappointed :)  Now I can stop feeling guilty for buying any new clothes for Ruby since it will get passed down.

The bottom of the plate had a piece of pink paper taped to the bottom.
Then peanut butter. Then pudding. Then whipped cream.
They couldn't use their hands :)

Mark had a great time camping with the young men last week.
Had to post this beautiful pick he took.

And prayers for our friend Alexis (we know her from high school). She's at the hospital, again, because of liver issues. She's also battling melanoma right now.
