a wish

This evening we went to the Make A Wish building (thank you Ivory family for donating funds for the land and building)!

Ruby has been waiting a couple weeks to use her key that she got in the mail to unlock a door. We talked with her wish grantors (thank you volunteers Heidi and Lyndi!) for a while, but Ruby wasn't really into answering questions and just wanted to play and open the door, which goes to a room with cool lights where you make your wish.  Each of us got to write down, and read, our wish for Ruby. I wished for Ruby to be happy, to be healthy, to know that her family loves her forever. I cried as soon as I started talking. I couldn't hold in all the love I have for her body and spirit. Ruby wished for a pedal bike from Elsa.

She had told them her favorite animal was a giraffe...and as we sat down to do some paperwork, Heidi came upstairs with a huge giraffe!  It was awesome.  The girls each got a Make A Wish barbie and we had root beer floats. My mom came and said hi. It was fun to just have fun.

Mark and I are amazed that wishes can be granted for so many kids, all by donations and volunteers. Most wishes take a few months to organize, and if we do a Disney type wish it would likely be to Florida where there is  the Give Kids the World resort. Ideally we would go in September  when its less hot than July or August.   But, they understand that we may need to plan around how Ruby is feeling and how her scans look.

Speaking of which, a few people have asked about her next scan. Her 2nd cycle will be done June 7th so hopefully within a few days we'd be able to get a scan done to see how her lungs are looking.
