Two nights ago dear Alexis passed away. (For those who don't know she went to high school with us and we became better friends when Ruby was diagnosed with cancer last year). It was peaceful, her mom by her side. Last Saturday was the last time I communicated with her and I'll treasure it forever. I'm so thankful I got to say what I wanted to say. I was in the middle of a church meeting, Stake Conference, Saturday night. I went out into the hall to write her back and had a good cry for a minute because I knew that she knew that her time was short, and as I asked her to watch over Ruby, that reality hit me hard. I'm thankful that she reached out to connect with us. I will miss her honesty, her personality, our lunch dates, her love for Ruby, and the understanding that she had of us and our situation. She was rad.
I'm thankful to have packed in a few short fun trips this last week of summer. Thack's Shack, Bear Lake, and Midway today and tomorrow.
