goals

sigh of relief :)

Last week we started putting the baby to bed earlier (7:30ish) and she's been sleeping until 6:30ish am. That is a win! Now in the evenings there is less stress and more hands to help and hold. She takes 2 naps during the day which also makes things easier. She's can sit up on her own now! And this week has seemed to be liking solid foods (not just choking them down).

I had been in a rut but am back out (tis the way with most of us for most of life right?). First, starting with more sleep, then made some goals and inspired by friends and people around me and a few instagram accounts :)  I've started running again and am hoping to do a 1/2 marathon in September. I'm also trying to put the focus on the spiritual side of my life so it can then help the other aspects...as opposed to waking up and first thing do the email/workout/etc thinking then I'll have time to talk to Heavenly Father through prayer and read the scriptures.  I'm trying to go to bed earlier (constant battle for me) so I can wake up earlier. For now thats 6/6:30am.

We were supposed to go to a family cancer retreat in Montana, but they didn't have enough families to attend and its canceled...which is ok because now we get to go to Bear Lake for a bit with Mark's fam and maybe a day in Midway with my fam!

Can't believe school starts in 20 days. That's going to be a big adjustment for me, and the kids. I love not being in a hurry in the morning with the kids. They love lounging in jams and sleeping in (our school starts at 8:15 which I vote is toooo early!) And Ruby, oh I'm afraid she's going to be lonely with both older sisters at school all day. She'll have a few afternoons of preschool, but if she can stand that much time with just me I'll soak it up because the time before they start going to school all day goes by quick.

We had a fantastic trip to California. So great. The ocean and the climate in La Jolla is dreamy.

Another big change is that Ruby's oncologist, Dr. Holly as we call her, is moving :( I was stunned when I heard the news. To think about seeing a different doctor has taken me a while to process. We'll see her for about another month before switching, likely to Dr. Fair. We've never met him before but she speaks highly of him. Holly is moving to Tennessee, where her husbands family is, and she'll be at St. Jude childrens hospital.

I took the girls to visit Alexis today. Doctors gave her 6-8 weeks of life, its been 4-5. Her body is declining but her spirit is the same and still very, very inspiring. She gave me a bracelet that says EXPECT MIRACLES. I cried. Oftentimes I ignore cancer in our life. It brought it back to reality for me, and that I should not give up. We have seen miracles with Ruby, multiple miracles, and I should expect it can continue.

visiting Grandma Sandy after the girls went to art camp with their cousin Noah and Katie
Annie didn't cry when Sandy held her, yay!

Up the canyon last night with friends.
Reminded that its so good for our souls to be outside!

Jane was mentioned in the Sandy City Journal about her running madness last May

Fun swimming at "the pool" with my Fetzer cousins and our kids

picnic with Grandma Carol at her work
She'll be 70 this year and I'm so very much looking forward to one day
when she can spend more time as grandma and less time at work :)

I love these ladies.
Spent a night catching up, meeting new babies, and chatting

We have yet to camp this year, so Mark set up the tent and slept out in the backyard with the girls. They loved it. I loved it too-they had fun and I slept inside with Annie :)
Mark had slept in a tent the previous 2 nights also. He had a wedding to shoot in Montana and camped while he was there.
