Cabin Adventures

Mark and I cross country skied into my family's cabin last weekend. It was an awesome adventure!

We left Saturday morning all packed up and ready to go. We stopped by my mom's where she insisted she make us some breakfast (thanks mom!). We got to the trailhead and started to put on our gear...between not having cross country skied in a few years and having the freezing cold biting at our fingertips, we were off to a somber start.

After 10 minutes we were having a blast! We realized how much we need this break-no cars, no phones, no internet, uh, no flushing toilet...ok, maybe not that last part, but it was great to be immersed in the mountains, snow, and trees. Mark was a strapping young man and carried all our food on a sled behind him, it was a smooth set up.

After our 8 mile journey we arrived at the Cabin. There was at least 3-5 feet of snow around the cabin so it took some good effort to dig around the door to get inside. With the sled, we rode down the hill under the cabin-definitely the best sledding around.

We read books, played our favorite game Trivial Pursuit, and had awesome food (Mark makes the best lasagna!). We decided to head out Sunday afternoon and are sure glad we did. We slept over in Heber with Em and Jess and woke up Monday to 2 feet of snow on our cars, it was awesome!

We hope to do it again before the winter is over!
