News you want to share in person

I've made some phone calls and told the people I could in person.  I'm thankful to have so many who care and want to know. Thank YOU for caring, for checking in on us via in the interwebs.

It's good news :)

I got Ruby's port cream on about 7am. Mark and I were up before 6, yet Ruby and I were still late getting out the door for the hospital.  Got her port accessed and then downstairs waiting for the scan. While we waited Mark joined us (thank you Mom for being with Annie!). Because of errors in paperwork and a new system we waited about an hour before going back. The scan was quick and easy.  I wasn't too nervous as we waited for Dr Whipple to come in. After so many rounds of scans and waiting for news, I've gotten stronger at preparing myself for whatever is said.

He said hi and was trying to log on to the computer and said "guys, they're melting away".  Jaw drop.  I think he was so excited he couldn't wait to show us the images or log in he just wanted to share the news.  Whaaaaaaat?!

A section of the official report:
The large anterolateral pleural-based lesion in the right lower
lobe, on axial image #22, measures approximately 1.4 x 1.1 x 1.2
cm, decreased from 2.1 x 2.6 x 3.6 cm

The smaller scattered nodules remaining in the lungs on the
prior study are now quite small or resolved. No new nodules are
seen.

When we started the trial for this drug, Entrectinib, we had seen results of other patients who had tumors go away in this short amount of time. But they weren't Ruby, so I had reason to wonder if it would work.

It's working!  To give you an idea, the largest tumor in her lungs is 9% of what it used to be. 9!!!

Thank you, and especially your family and children's prayers on Ruby's behalf. We feel blessed and thankful.  We feel undeserving when we know and see so many other kids who haven't had a path like Ruby's. We will do our best to continue to be deserving of all that we've been given.

It's a great day :)

Love you!

Ali
